Eternal and Everlasting God, Creator of all that is seen and unseen, we come before You this day with hearts laid bare, seeking Your presence, Your mercy, and Your boundless love revealed in the person of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. In Him, the mystery of Your divine nature and the fullness of human frailty are woven together in a sacred union, a paradox of glory that humbles our minds and stirs our souls. We stand in awe of the Incarnate Word, the One who is both fully God, radiant with the unapproachable light of Your holiness, and fully human, acquainted with our sorrows, our temptations, and the dust of this earthly pilgrimage.
O Father, You sent Your only Son, Jesus, to dwell among us, not as a distant sovereign, but as Emmanuel, God-with-us, clothed in the flesh of our mortality. In Him, we behold the majesty of Your eternal Word, who was with You in the beginning, through whom all things were made, yet who chose to walk the rugged paths of Galilee, to touch the leper, to weep with the mourning, and to break bread with sinners. His humanity calls us to draw near, for He knows the weight of our burdens, the sting of our failures, and the fleeting joys of this temporal life. He is the carpenter’s son, whose hands bore the calluses of labor, whose heart felt the ache of rejection, and whose voice spoke words of life that pierce the darkness of our despair.
Yet, O Lord, this same Jesus is the Alpha and Omega, the brightness of Your glory, the exact imprint of Your divine nature. In Him, the fullness of deity dwells bodily, and the heavens cannot contain the splendor of His eternal reign. He is the Lamb slain before the foundation of the world, the High Priest who intercedes for us, and the King who will return in glory to judge the living and the dead. His divinity assures us that no power in heaven or on earth can separate us from Your love, for He has overcome sin, death, and the forces of darkness by the might of His resurrection. In His wounds, we see the cost of our redemption; in His risen body, we see the promise of our eternal hope.
We confess, O God, that we are frail, prone to wander, and quick to forget the marvel of Your grace. Like the disciples on the road to Emmaus, our eyes are often dim, failing to recognize the presence of our Savior walking beside us. Yet, in Your mercy, You open our hearts to the truth of Christ’s dual nature—human, that He might sympathize with our weaknesses; divine, that He might save us utterly. Grant us, we pray, the grace to abide in Him as He abides in us, to trust in His compassion as our brother and to worship His majesty as our God. May His human tears remind us of Your nearness, and His divine power embolden us to live as children of Your kingdom.
This day, we lift our voices in gratitude for the mystery of the Incarnation, where heaven stooped to earth, and eternity entered time. Teach us to walk in the way of Jesus, who humbled Himself even to death on a cross, that we might learn humility, selflessness, and love that seeks not its own. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit, that we may reflect the character of Christ, who bore our griefs and carried our sorrows, yet reigns forever as the Lord of lords. Let His life be our pattern, His cross our salvation, and His resurrection our hope.
O merciful God, we pray for a world that groans under the weight of sin and brokenness. May the light of Christ, who is both the Son of Man and the Son of God, shine into the shadows of despair, injustice, and strife. Use us, Your people, as vessels of His love, ambassadors of His grace, and witnesses to His truth. As we contemplate the mystery of Jesus—fully human, fully divine—let us never cease to marvel at Your love, which pursued us to the depths of our need and lifted us to the heights of Your glory.
We offer this prayer in the name of Jesus Christ, our Savior, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
